Renovated shopping centre Akropolis Klaipėda features new shops and entertainment areas as well as modern common spaces

Renovation of Akropolis Klaipėda Completed

The renovation of common areas in Akropolis Klaipėda, the largest shopping and entertainment venue in Western Lithuania, has been finalized. This significant upgrade and modernization project has transformed over 11,000 square meters of shared spaces, with an investment totaling nearly EUR 8 million.

Significance of the Renovation

“It is fitting that we completed the renovation of Akropolis Klaipėda in December, right before the holiday season. This month also marks the 19th anniversary of the shopping centre’s opening. This renovation, the most extensive since Akropolis was established, is important for both our visitors and tenants. Our goal is to enhance the common areas and implement sustainable solutions that prioritize visitor comfort. We aim to create a modern shopping environment that aligns with contemporary interior design trends. Guests at Akropolis Klaipėda will enjoy brighter, more inviting shared spaces, alongside numerous new and updated shops and entertainment zones,” stated Dominykas Mertinas, Head of Marketing and Communications at Akropolis Group.

New Retail and Entertainment Offerings

In addition to the renovation of communal areas, several shops and service outlets within Akropolis Klaipėda have also been refreshed. Notable new additions include the trampoline and entertainment park Jumpland, located on the second floor, where visitors can enjoy extensive trampoline facilities, climbing tracks, and modern gaming machines. Furthermore, a new entertainment concept, “Action! by Apollo,” opened its doors in November, featuring bowling and various entertainment options. “We focused significantly on enhancing not just the retail spaces but also the entertainment and leisure offerings during the renovation. Given the winter season, indoor entertainment is particularly appealing, which is why both ‘Action! by Apollo’ and ‘Jumpland’ quickly gained popularity among our visitors,” Mertinas remarked.

New Retailers Join the Centre

In December, the shopping centre welcomed a new concept store from the popular brand Sinsay. Throughout this year, several other shops, including revamped locations for Bershka, Mohito, House, Audimas, Creme de la Creme, Step Top, Alikante, Deichmann, Lietuvos paštas, and Candy Pop, have also opened for business.

Maxima Supermarket Revamped

In September, the Maxima supermarket, the largest in Western Lithuania, underwent significant renovations to enhance its offerings. The revamped supermarket now features an extensive selection of locally baked bread, pastries, confectionery, and ready-to-eat meals. It has also introduced Scan&Go technology, which streamlines the shopping experience for customers.

Enhancing Visitor Convenience

The interior renovations at Akropolis Klaipėda, which spanned over a year, were executed in a phased manner, ensuring that the shopping and entertainment centre remained operational throughout the process. “To maintain continuous service for our visitors, major renovation activities were conducted overnight. This approach allowed all shops and service outlets to remain open, minimizing disruption for our tenants,” Mertinas explained.

Upgraded Common Spaces and Facilities

The renovation resulted in significant enhancements to the common areas at Akropolis Klaipėda, including walkways, restrooms, four modern childcare rooms, and two complimentary thematic playgrounds for children, which have quickly attracted visitor interest and received positive feedback. “We carefully selected lighter color palettes for the interior design materials and upgraded the lighting solutions. The installation of modern LED lighting throughout the alleys and communal areas has made them brighter and more inviting. Additionally, this lighting upgrade contributes to lower electricity costs, making Akropolis Klaipėda more environmentally friendly,” noted Mertinas.

Accessibility and Visitor Amenities

For guests with mobility challenges, wheelchairs are available for free at entrances 1, 2, and 4 of the shopping centre. To further enhance visitor convenience, lockers and a self-service cloakroom have been introduced at Vokiečių alley, near the Skechers store. Currently, Akropolis Klaipėda boasts over 240 shops and service outlets.
