Renovation of Akropolis Klaipėda Completed
The extensive renovation of Akropolis Klaipėda, the largest shopping and entertainment complex in Western Lithuania, has officially concluded. This significant upgrade involved redesigning and modernizing over 11,000 square meters of communal areas, and required an investment close to EUR 8 million.
Significance of the Renovation
Dominykas Mertinas, the Head of Marketing and Communications at Akropolis Group, remarked on the project’s completion in December, coinciding with the festive season and the center’s 19th anniversary. He emphasized that this renovation marks the most extensive updates since the center’s inception, benefiting both visitors and retailers. The enhancements aim to transform the shopping experience by integrating sustainable solutions and modern design trends, resulting in brighter and more inviting communal areas alongside a variety of new and updated retail and entertainment options.
New Retail and Entertainment Offerings
In addition to the renovations of common spaces, Akropolis Klaipėda has also introduced several new retail and service outlets. Notable additions include the Jumpland trampoline park situated on the second floor, featuring a large trampoline area, climbing tracks, and modern gaming options. Furthermore, the new “Action! by Apollo” entertainment park opened in November, providing bowling and other leisure activities. Mertinas pointed out that the focus during the renovations extended beyond just retail to include diverse entertainment offerings, which have proven popular among visitors, especially during the winter months.
Shop Openings and Expansions
December also saw the launch of a new concept store from the well-known brand Sinsay. Throughout the year, Akropolis Klaipėda welcomed several new or revamped stores including Bershka, Mohito, House, Audimas, and others, enhancing the shopping experience for visitors.
Maxima Supermarket Revamp
Earlier this year, the Maxima supermarket, recognized as the largest in Western Lithuania, underwent significant renovations to improve its offerings. It now boasts an extensive selection of locally baked goods, pastries, and ready-to-eat meals. The introduction of Scan&Go technology has also streamlined the shopping experience for customers.
Seamless Renovation Process
The renovation at Akropolis Klaipėda, which spanned over a year, was strategically executed in phases to ensure that the shopping center remained operational throughout the process. Mertinas noted that major work was conducted at night, minimizing disruption for retailers and allowing visitors continued access to shops and entertainment.
Upgraded Amenities for Visitors
The revitalization included enhancements to common areas such as walkways, restrooms, and the addition of four modern childcare rooms, as well as two free thematic playgrounds for children, which have quickly become popular among visitors. Attention was also given to the selection of lighter interior design materials and improved lighting solutions. With the installation of modern LED lights, the common areas have become more inviting while also reducing energy costs, contributing to a more environmentally friendly environment.
Accessibility and Visitor Convenience
Akropolis Klaipėda is committed to accessibility, offering free wheelchairs at entrances 1, 2, and 4 for visitors with mobility challenges. Additionally, self-service lockers and a cloakroom have been installed near the Skechers store on Vokiečių alley for the convenience of shoppers. The center currently features over 240 shops and service outlets, enhancing its status as a premier shopping destination.
