Vesper Infrastructure Takes Majority Stake in EAG Bioenergy

Vesper Infrastructure has secured a majority ownership in EAG Bioenergy, a prominent bioenergy platform that operates anaerobic digestion biogas facilities in the United Kingdom. This strategic investment aims to foster growth by partnering with OrbeNovo Capital to develop a robust pipeline of mergers and acquisitions, as well as opportunities for biomethane expansion across the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

In collaboration with its founding investor, OrbeNovo Capital, and the senior management team of EAG Bioenergy, led by CEO Chris Kerr and CFO Neil Adair, Vesper Infrastructure is now the primary shareholder of EAGB. This investment includes a significant capital infusion designed to support the company’s growth objectives.

EAGB operates as a platform that aggregates biogas, biomethane, and other related bioenergy initiatives throughout the UK and the Republic of Ireland. The company is initially concentrating on consolidating operational biogas assets in specific geographic areas while also investing in both brownfield and greenfield biomethane development projects.

The portfolio of EAGB features operational anaerobic digestion facilities located in Northern Ireland and Shropshire, alongside projects focused on biomethane and biofertilizer production. EAGB is enhancing its operational capabilities with the goal of stimulating growth within the UK and Irish bioenergy sectors, aiming to make significant contributions to national decarbonization efforts and energy security.

The company is actively pursuing additional mergers and acquisitions, as well as organic growth opportunities, and is open to discussions with stakeholders regarding potential projects in the bioenergy field.

Livio Fenati, managing partner and founder of Vesper Infrastructure Partners, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are excited to support EAGB in its pursuit of quality bioenergy assets and further expansion throughout the energy value chain. This marks Vesper Infrastructure’s second investment, following RADx, and our first foray into the bioenergy and circular economy sector. EAGB aligns well with our investment strategy, which focuses on opportunities that present strong potential for development.”

Chris Kerr, CEO of EAG Bioenergy, remarked, “This collaboration with Vesper Infrastructure is transformative for EAGB; the influx of new investment capital will greatly enhance our capacity to identify, evaluate, and execute multiple acquisitions over the coming years. We already have several promising acquisitions in the pipeline, and with Vesper’s backing, we can demonstrate our ability to engage decisively with sellers. We are also in the process of expanding our asset management team to support our anticipated growth, making the next couple of years a thrilling period for everyone involved.”
